Amman Municipality Tightens Covid Precautions

Amman — The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) announced a set of precautionary and preventive measures in light of the coronavirus surge across the world.

Amman Mayor Yousef Shawarbeh said in a statement issued Thursday that work hours at the municipal offices and facilities will be from 9 am to 1 pm, with the exception of the Central Vegetable Market and the Amman slaughterhouse “due to the nature of their work.”

As part of the new precautions, entrance to the main municipal premises will be from the northern gate and in coordination with police at the entrance, he said.

The mayor asked directors of the various departments, regions and administrative units to ensure that service recipients and employees had taken the coronavirus vaccine and ensure adherence to health safety and prevention measures, including wearing masks, physical distancing, floor markings and sanitizers.
